The workers at UNM have been represented by CWA for over 25 years . In February 2009, representation of UNM was awarded to SEA-CWA Local 7076, the largest Public Sector Local in CWA District 7.
Approximately 800 UNM employees from the Physical Plant Department, Food Service and Clerical Technical units are covered under the CWA contract and provide the essential services that keep the university running in order to support the faculty and students academic goals.
The beauty of UNM campus comes from the hard work of the Grounds Keepers, who maintain the landscaping through out the year. The Custodial Service employees provide the most professional cleaning service quality of any university in the country. The Food Service workers feed thousands of students across campus every year. Physical Plant Maintenance workers keep the university's electrical, water and plumbing needs working in order to fulfill the mission of the university. Parking and Transportation employees shuttle students, faculty members and Lobo fans to classes and sporting events, while Clerical Technical workers provide student, faculty and administrative staff support.
