Department of Cultural Affairs
The Department of Cultural Affairs' mission is to preserve and celebrate the integrity and diversity of the cultures of New Mexico. There are 550 employees working in fifteen divisions across the state.
There are fifteen divisions within the department. The Museum of New Mexico in Santa Fe consists of the Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, Museum of Internationa Folk Art,and the Palace of the Governors. Other state museums are the Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces, the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, the Natural History Museum in Albuquerque, and the Space History Museum in Alamogordo.
The State Monuments Division operates six state monuments: Coronado, El Camino Real International Heritage Center, Fort Selden, Fort Sumner, Jemez, and Lincoln.
Other divisions include the Administrative Services Division, the Historic Preservation Division, Museum Services, the Office of Archeological Studies, the State Library, and New Mexico Arts, which includes the Music Commission.
