MESSAGE FROM OUTGOING PRESIDENT OF CWA 7076
April 9th, 2010
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
After 22 years of working to build a union among state workers, and 6 years in building a brand new local, I am resigning my position as
President (and as a state worker) to join CWA full time. My last day will be April 16.
I will be moving to Denver and working out of our CWA District office as a staff representative. At this time, I do not know what my assignment will be, but I suspect I will be in New Mexico occasionally.
Our Local bylaws are clear on what happens in this case: Michelle Lewis, the executive vice president, moves into the president's position and a new executive vice president will be recommended to the board by Michelle. I have
every confidence in Michelle Lewis, and she will be a great leader for this local. We will continue to work together on any outstanding issues so that the transition is smooth. I may be leaving, but the hard work of standing up for workers’ rights continues.
What a wonderful ride it has been! Stay united, continue to fight the good fight, understand your contract, and never forget that you are the union. All of our successes are due to your hard work and solidarity.
In Solidarity,
Robin Gould
