CWA Local, Regional and International Sites

• CWA Local 7011 (Albuquerque)
  Albuquerque's Local 7011 has been in existence since 1950. Originally representing of AT&T and Mountain Bell employees, the local now represents communications employees in both the public and private sector.
• CWA District 7
  CWA District 7 is one of the eight geographical districts that make up Communications Workers of America. District 7, of which New Mexico is a part, also AK, AZ, CO, ID, IA, MN, MT, NE, ND, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY.

  The CWA International Web Site is a resource for tools and information about all things CWA.

New Mexico Unions

• American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 18
  SEA-CWA works closely with AFSMCE locals in negotiating with the state and in our various efforts with New Mexico's legislators.
• UPTE-CWA at Los Alamos National Laboratory
  Organizing & Representing University of California Employees of the Los Alamos National Laboratory
• CWA Public, Health Care, and Education Workers Sector
  CWA represents more than 140,000 public, health care and education workers in states from coast to coast, ranging from blue collar to white collar workers, from social workers, educators, and health care providers to computer programmers, heavy equipment operators, and corrections and police officers.
• AFL-CIO, America's Labor Movment
  AFL-CIO's website is a vast resource for all things union. CWA is affiliated with this national labor federation whose mission is to bring economic justice and social justice to the workplace and to our nation.
• New Mexico Federation of Labor / NM Central Labor Councils
  SEA-CWA is affiliated with the New Mexico Federation of Labor and several NM local councils, which are part of the AFL-CIO. Unions of all kinds come together in these political councils to work on our common goals for working familes.

Community Organizations

• Santa Fe Living Wage Network
  The Santa Fe Living Wage Network is a membership organization that works to uphold and extend the living wage in our community and provide support for other communities to do likewise.
• Somos Un Pueblo Unido
  Somos Un Pueblo Unido works to build a community that does not discriminate against people based on their national origin, that institutes humane immigration policies, and that protects the human rights of everyone irrespective of where they are born or what documents they carry.
• Health Security for New Mexicans Campaign
  The Health Security for New Mexicans Campaign is a broad coalition of organizations and individuals working for health care coverage for all New Mexicans. The Campaign seeks to establish a publicly accountable health care system in New Mexico that provides everyone with comprehensive medical and mental health services and medications, encourages preventive care, brings new resources to underserved areas, controls costs, and allows everyone the freedom to choose their own health care provider.
• New Mexico Human Needs Coordinating Council
  The New Mexico Human Needs Coordinating Council (HNCC) is the statewide organization working to improve the health and meet the human needs of the people of New Mexico.
• New Mexicans for a Fair Wage
  A coalition of legislators, business owners, workers, activists, and voters, New Mexicans for a Fair Wage is calling on New Mexico to join the ranks of the seventeen states that have passed their own minimum wage increases.
• Health Care for All
  HCFA is asking the legislature to fund a study comparing several models of coverage and of financing universal health care. Health care in New Mexico is in a deepening crisis: almost one out of four New Mexicans is uninsured; one out of five New Mexico children has no health insurance; and most uninsured or underinsured adults are working people. In the past year alone, insurance premiums rose between 16 and 30 percent. Co-pays and deductibles are increasing and pharmaceutical drug costs are rising.
• The United States Department of Labor
  The Department ff Labor (DOL) is charged with defending worker's rights that unions have fought so hard for over our history. DOL fosters and promotes the welfare of the job seekers, wage earners, and retirees of the United States by improving their working conditions, advancing their opportunities for profitable employment, protecting their retirement and health care benefits, helping employers find workers, strengthening free collective bargaining, and tracking changes in employment, prices, and other national economic measurements. In carrying out this mission, the Department administers a variety of Federal labor laws including those that guarantee workers' rights to safe and healthful working conditions; a minimum hourly wage and overtime pay; freedom from employment discrimination; unemployment insurance; and other income support.
